I'm not a happy man. Got my brand spankin' new 80 gig video iPod this morning. Started sync with about 30 gigs of songs on iTunes 7 about 9:00 am. It's now 9:00 PM and it's about half done!!!
It's connected to a USB 2.0 card in my ancient Dell Pentium III. My songs are on a firewire connected external drive. Is it the firewire thing with the external drive? What gives? I'm dying here!

So go to bed, it will be done when u wake up. Yer not synching 30 gig EVERYDAY, so I'd say this is a minor prob. U will figure it out later.
My calculators says it's going at 4 mbit/sec, that's like not even USB1 speed.

Something is not right - maybe a couple of hours is needed, but not a day!

It is the fire wire. If your songs are on external it takes an extra step for the computer to process.
Firewire HD rpm is slower than computer's HD rpm. Therefore it goes from firewire to computer to ipod. Hope its done now.
