This happened with my old iPod a few months ago, which eventually seemed to have broke beyond repair.

I just recieved a new iPod Video for Christmas. Having a bit of trouble getting it to connect(after plugging it in, the USB on/off sound played several times, and the Do Not Disconnect screen in ipod was going on and off) I tried another USB port. It seemed to have worked...After taking about 6 hours to finish loading my library of 4600 onto it, I selected a few playlists to be taken off. Itunes was then "not responding", with my iPod saying "do not disconnect" After nothing happened for a few minutes, I decided to try again. Before disconnecting my iPod, I reset it, and then plugged it back in. "Do not disconnect" came on my iPod, but it never showed up in iTunes. Now it seems I'm stuck with some 526 songs and unable to update my iPod.
What seems to be the problem? Is it my computer? the USB port?
If anyone can help me, I cannot thank you enough.

UPDATE:
I think the remaining songs were only the ones from the playlists I selected. But, after several attempts, I got it to reconnect. I began updating, and after several minutes, this message popped up:
"Attempting to copy to the disc "[ipod name]" failed. It could not be read from or written to."
So now what? Call apple?

I tried ejecting it, so the Do not disconnect screen would go away, but it said it was "Contains files that are in use with another application." So, I tried Syncing it again, and recieved the same message, but it looks like more songs were added to it.
