About a year ago (it was 2 days before memorial day), this kid nicknamed me "Gizmo". I asked that kid again what he thought I should name my iPod, and he said "Gizmo, name it g-Pod". It isn't engraved with that name (my dad had it engraved when he returned it to be exchanged for a new one, (defective hard drive), since they were out of stock, he ordered one w/ engraving), because I hadn't told my parents what I had named it.

I'm having trouble deciding names for my iPod(s). I had one stolen, but I still want it named. I am getting a new 15GB one also.

I want something to do with Impulse (such a cool word), or Dave (my name). I was also thinking of Tri-pod, or MyPod (although someone at iPodlounge already has that name :( ). I fly VERY often, so i might also call it Fly-pod. Also, i have a new BMW Z4, so i may encorperate a Z4-pod (doesnt sound too good).

If anyone can give me some ideas, it'd be greatly appreciated :)

Interesting. My Mac has four drives and the iPod. My main drive is called Aphrodite (goddess of love because I love my Mac), my second internal is called Merope (wife of Sisyphus, named so because that's where I keep all my work files and it makes me feel like I'm rolling a rock up a hill forever), my first external drive is called Polyhymnia (the muse of music and the drive where I keep all of my mp3's) and my second external drive is called Terpsichore (the muse of dance because the drive is used as scratch disc and therefore does a dance with the applications that use it.) My iPod is called Persephone (the goddess of the seasons since all was wintery before I got my iPod and now it's happy springtime, filled with music.)

When I first got my iPod I had some trouble setting it up due to my old Win98SE machine being a hunk of junk, so I enlisted in the help of my friend to update it and get it running. When he took time out of his busy schedule to help me out, no questions asked, I gave him the right to christen the 'Pod.

BobPod it was.

Although neither he nor I are very Boblike, so he let me change it later on. It's what friend's are for. ;)

When you have explorer up first make sure you have mounted you ipod so windows will give it a drive letter to identify with the system structure. Highlight the drive and right click to get the menu and select rename, then bingo you can rename it to your like. I did that to all my drives.

If I remember correctly, a Mac will ask you to name your iPod when you first connect it to the computer...but then, while it's mounted, you can rename it by clicking on the name under the icon on the desktop, or by clicking on the name next to the icon in iTunes.

At any rate, I have a "train station" naming scheme for computers; the two hard drives in my Mac are Union Station and Grand Central, and then the TiVo connected to my network is named Penn Station.

Since the iPod is smaller in physical size than any of its brethren, I named it after a smaller train station: the stop on the Chicago 'L' (subway/metro) system with my favorite name, North and Clybourn.

Yes, the day after i recieved my Ipod, I decided to name it Graham Norton. it's 20 gig, and I love it. I named him that coz I am in denial. I wish I was British. Honestly. Yes, I am obsessed with BBC america, and the best show on there is the late night risque talk show, very graham norton. Which is why that is now my Ipods name.
