Ditto. I use the Samsung LCD 19" Widescreen ones and I find anything less than 1440x990 unbearable.

I have a 19'' widescreen viewsonic montior and I use 1440by900 also. But I find it hard to find desktops the fit the full screen and don't look funny.

I dunn understand the reason for the Q (yup, the sensible one :)). It depends on the monitor (physical) size of course.

Sometimes, more is not better. I have a remote server that I monitor through the LAN, that's running 640x480 (send me the second monitor please :D), 'cuz I only check it for status, and I don't want unneded info (pixels) clogging my LAN, and slow down the refresh.

Theoretically, running at the monitor's NATIVE (usually max) resolution is best and just use a bigger font if too small. BUT if your eyes can't tell the difference, then use whatever works for you, specially if your video system uses up too much cpu at its highest resolution.

1280 x 854, actually.... I use a Powerbook G4, and that it's native resolution.

Still on a 15" at home so 1024x768 is the best I can do. Use same at work on a 17" so I can sit farther from the screen.

My MacBook is 1280 x 800, but I'm planning on getting a 23" Apple Cinema Display. :D
