Anyone read the Onion AV Club? I enjoy their random rules feature. They ask somebody (actor, musician, writer, etc...) to put their iPod on shuffle and give a blurb about the first 10 songs that pop up. NO CHEATING! Don't edit your songs to hide those Debbie Gibson tracks you've got lurking in your Nano.
1. What Does Your Soul Look Like (Part 1 - Blue Sky Revisit) - DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
Not the most exciting track on this disc, but it's got a nice mellow mood.
2. Loud and Clear - One Block Radius - Long Story Short
I heard One Block Radius first on some podcast from a 15 yo girl who has better music taste than most people I know. They're a fun underground hip-hop group from the West Coast.
3. Is It Wicked Not to Care - Belle and Sebastian - The Boy with the Arab Strap
There are some decent tracks on this album, but this one doesn't do much for me. Too breathy and wispy.
4. Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie - Best of Bowie
I came to this song backwards. I was into Bauhaus as a teenager and loved their cover version, I prefer this one now. One of my favorite Bowie songs.
5. Revolution 909 -Daft Punk - Homework
I love this track, especially while driving. But it's kind of a love it or hate it song, you either like minimalist French techno, or, well, you just think it's horrible.
6. Bittersweet Me - REM - New Adventures In Hi-Fi
One of the best tracks from an ok album. Some great lines, "I move across candy floss, I move like a tank." Make sense? No. Still sounds great.
7. The Crying of Lot G - Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out
Great album, but I usually skip this track, not my favorite.
8. The 59th Street Bridge Song - Simon & Garfunkel - Parsley Sage, Rosemary & Thyme
S & G will always remind me of my dad, enough said.
9. Blue Monday ('88) - New Order - The Best of New Order
I love New Order. Out of all the mopey alternative bands from the 80's New Order has had the most staying power with me. I almost never skip any of their tracks. Blue Monday is a classic.
10. Gauzy Dress in the Sun - Richard Buckner - Bloomed (reissue)
This guy is great, the definition of alternative country for me. His stream of consciousness lyrics and spare instrumentation are just amazing. Half the time I have no idea what he's singing about but it doesn't even matter because his songs are so amazing.

I like it!
1. Live - "Face and Ghost (The Children's Song)"
A nice mellow one from my Hometown Heroes in Live. The absolute best part of this song is the guitar effect Adam keeps using. Ed's vocals are always brilliant too.
2. Shinedown - "Fly From the Inside"
This song was the band's first single and it's deceptively heavy. It's kind of overkill from being on the radio so much though.
3. Pink Floyd - "Cluster One"
This is the opening track to their Division Bell album and it's an instrumental. It is without a doubt, the most soothing song I have ever heard. The guitar and piano melodies paint a spectacular image and I simply get lost in this song every time I hear it. Highly recommended.
4. Loverboy - "Working For the Weekend"
This song is pretty annoying, and frankly, I'm embarrassed to have it in my Library. Playing GTA: Vice City so much made me want it I suppose.
5. Lacuna Coil - "Entwined"
Great song. Christina's vocals are haunting and certainly carried this band to their success. The songs on this album are so much better than the ones on their latest, Karmacode.
6. Weird Al - "Jerry Springer"
Oops.
7. The White Stripes - "I'm Finding it Harder to Be a Gentleman"
One of their weaker songs, actually. It's predictable, and I really don't like the ending. This doesn't represent their amazing cataloge appropriately at all.
8. Alien Ant Farm - "Wish"
Great fast-paced song from AAF. I've always felt that these guys are one of the most under-appreciated bands out there. They're much better than they're given credit for. I first heard this album while at a camp on the NJ shoreline, so I always associate these guys with days at the beach.
9. Pennywise - "Yell Out"
I only have this song because it was on the Vans Warped Tour 2005 album that I purchased. It's your typical punk song, but I really like this guy's voice. Might be worth looking into more of their stuff. Can anyone vouche for this?
10. Nine Inch Nails - "Down In It"
This was an early single from one of my favorite bands. Admittedly, it sounds very dated today, but I'll always love it. Pretty Hate Machine is the best that debut albums come, and Trent Reznor can do no wrong.
I have to say that these songs don't really represent my library very well. I do have a few rap songs, some motion picture scores, and I can't believe, with all the Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins that I have, none of them came up. Bummer.

These are fun.
1. The Doors - Strange Days
Definitely an eclectic song, but I did it. Rather trippy too. Jim Morrison is rather strange.
2. Metallica - Master of Puppets - Battery
What can I say, this song changed my perception of music. When I first got MoP, I would not go past this song because I didn't think the rest of the CD could be nearly as good as this song. It was just so fast, and so heavy... I didn't know what to call it!
3. Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute - Falling into Grace
Not the best song on the CD, but still pretty good. I like the wah action on the bass and the talkbox.
4. Led Zeppelin - II - The Lemon Song
Squeeze my lemon, until the juice runs down my leg...
But seriously, the bass on this song is FAT. And the lyrics are great too.
5. Jean-Luc Ponty - Enigmatic Ocean - The Struggle of the Turtle to the Sea Part I
Possibly the most ridiculous song name I have in iTunes. It's an OK song. It sets up well for Part 2 and 3.
6. Opeth - Lamentations - The Leper Affinity
Possibly the greatest death metal lyrics i've ever hears. It's so ####ing \m/etal!
7. Black Sabbath - Volume IV - Snowblind
I love this song. First time I heard it was on the live album. I get creepy vibes from this song because I know that Ozzy is just narrating the band's lives, being cocaine.
8. Bright Eyes - Lua
WTF, I hate Bright Eyes. Why did this have to come on. Conner sounds like he's about to burst out crying at any music. I fscking hate this song.
9. Jean-Luc Ponty - The Gift of Time - Metamorphosis
Not the greatest song on the CD. It's got some cool violin MIDI, but I generally skip it.
10. #### Dale - Taco Wagon
Listening to this song just makes me wish I was chilling on the beach with my pals and some Coronas.

1. Daniel Lanois - I Love You
Lanois is a talented songwriter, but probably a better producer. I could make a list of bands a mile long that I'd love to have him produce (as opposed to their recent producers).
2. Jump, Little Children - 15 Stories
JLC (now known only as Jump) just make good acoustic based college rock. Nothing like a band with a violin to get college kids moving.
3. Dave Matthews Band - Steady As We Go
Love DMB, but the album Stand Up is just flat out mediocre aside from a few songs. This isn't one of them.
4. Aerosmith - Roadrunner
Aerosmith does the blues on their album Honkin' on Bobo. I never really dug it.
5. The Beatles - Because
This is the version off of the recent Love album. It's just the vocals. Kind of haunting.
6. Pat McGee - All Along The Watchtower
Pat McGee ripping off Dave Matthews ripping of Michael Hedges ripping off Bob Dylan.
7. David Gray - Sail Away
White Ladder is still one of my favorite albums of all time.
8. U2 - Exit
U2 hasn't been the same since the early days. (Hint: this may be because of someone else on this list).
9. The Mountain Goats - Broom People
Honestly, I really have nothing to say about this song since I've only listened to it once or twice.
10. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Scar Tissue
This one reminds me of high school, but not as much as other tracks off of this album.
And a few more since I got a bunch of tracks that I don't have much to say about.
11. Jason Mraz - Unfold
This is the old Jason Mraz; before he went completely pop. Of course, if he kept up the coffeehouse persona he'd never make any money.
12. Alison Krass & Union Station - Maybe
Nothing like a little neo-bluegrass to shake up any list.
13. Aerosmith - Don't Stop
Aerosmith is one of my love/hate bands. Some of their music (primarily the older stuff) I love, and some I can't stand. This song falls somewhere closer to the latter.
14. Wilco - Candy Floss
Wilco has gone through so many transformations in their history. This is one of their brighter, poppier songs. And I love it!
15. Bela Fleck & the Flecktones - Scratch & Sniff
What can you say about the Flecktones? They're definitely not for everyone, but it's some of the best music out there today.
Radiohead - High And Dry
Haven't really listened to it too much, you know when an album is so good you just can't bring yourself to listen to it? No? Yeah well this is awesome.
Eminem - One Shot 2 Shot
Tail end of encore, fun enough song.
RHCP - Venice Queen
Love this song to bits. I saw it live and it was breathtaking.
Hatebreed - The Most Truth
I love angry music, because it's so far from my personality it's not funny. This is brutal. And good.
Opeth - Isolation Years
Wow. Very epic. One of my favourite songs of recent times actually, with the volume up and nothing else happening around you - this song delivers in spades.
HIM - Close To The Flame
Aaah chilled out music spree here. I like HIM because they're wanky, and that's cool.
Kamelot - Temples Of Gold
Another wanky metal band to round it off! This album (Karma) is amazing, any fan of power metal must listen!
Tenacious D - History
I haven't listened to it too much, but rather funny and good value.
Deftones - Lucky You
This song gets you caught in a moment, very Team Sleepish.
Frente - Not Given Lightly
And a perfect finisher. So relaxed and 90's. Frente are really good, I should have seen them on their last tour of Australia.

Be In My Video - Frank Zappa
I went through a strange "phase".
Unknown Territory - #### Dale
Good in small doses.
Beers, Steers, & Queers (Take 'em Right Off mix) - The Revolting C0cks
Heh...well...how did that get in there??? :X
At the Moment - Dead Milkmen
My shuffle setting must be stuck on the lunacy setting...give me just one "normal" song.
I'm Just a Man - INXS
OK...found the nomal (but boring) song.
Save It for Later - The English Beat
Ahhhh yes...mellow.
Our Frank - Morrissey
See...I'm 75% "normal"!!!!
Wildwood Flower - Mike Ness
...with just a little bluegrass.
Closer - Nine Inch Nails
Had ya fooled....I'm really not "normal".
Too Hot - The Specials
I have multiple personalities.

1. Halo- Porcupine Tree
I love the chorus of this song, love the vocals. Really great live.
2. Exaltation- (Don't know the composer)
This is a recording of my high school concert band last year. It had a fun little trumpet fanfare, and a cool "riff" at the end.
3. Gyroscope- In Flames
Not too familiar with this one... haven't listened to this album enough, but I should because this is cool.
4. Part I - Aerosoul
Local band from my school, this is a solo guitar piece, very very good writing and playing, I love this.
5. Drive- Dispatch
Haven't listened to this one as much either... but I do like other songs on this CD.
6. Mercury Shadow- Soilwork
This was the neglected song off this album for me.. love the album, but this song didn't stand out.
7. Pull the Shades- M- Johnnie
Who is this? I don't know. My friend met this guy, who had his own CD's, and he gave my friend 7 copies, and one found it's way to me. About the music, one word. 80's... in a bad way. Blegh.
8. Dissapear- Dream Theater
I'm proud to say that I saw the first ever live perrformance of this song. It was 2004 i think, they brought a cellist on stage, and played this, first time in concert. Pretty cool, because the only had him for that one show. Love the song, very relaxing.
9. Paranoid- (by Me)
I recorded a cover of my self playing Black Sabbath's Paranoid, when I first got Garageband. All I can say is that my production quality, and guitar playing has definantly improved since.
10. I can Learn- White Stripes
I don't know this one, but its a good album.

1. Radiohead - Idioteque
Easily one of my favorite Radiohead songs. I like it.
2. Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven
Eric Clapton, thank you for this song.
3. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Backwoods
One of their earlier, funkier, less mature songs. Great song.
4. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Vivaldi's The Four Seasons - Summer
Vivaldi for the win. I'll admit this is this songs first play...
5. Weird Al Yankovic - Yoda
Two geeky pleasures at once... Weird Al + Star Wars.
6. Phish - Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey
If you didn't know, Phish used to play "musical costumes" on Halloween where they played famous albums by other bands in their entirety. Their White Album covers were generally okay but this is great.
7. De La Soul - Say No Go
Great CD, great song.
8. Pavement - Stare
I like Pavement, and I wish I was alive/liking them when they were new, especially when they toured with Weezer.
9. Jurassic 5 - What's Golden
It's a pretty good song. I saw them live at a ski thing a couple years ago. Good stuff.
10. Mamas and the Papas - This Is Dedicated to the One I Love
Great band. Great song. Saw a thing on them on PBS yesterday.

oh.. and i start with a thrilllllllller.
JUST REMEMBER!! i'm a lot softer than you guys. don't hurt me. lol
1. - "Sittin' Pretty" - Shannon Noll
I actually saw this guy live, (and you were thinking, could she get any worse!!), and this song was one of my favourites of the night. He's got a great.. charisma.. about him.
2. - "The Way You Make Me Feel" - Michael Jackson
Always reminds me of 'Centre Stage'... and the dance with the motorbikes and stuff. What can I say...I'm a Jacko fan!!
3. - "Only One" - Goo Goo Dolls
I must say, I don't know this song. It's a newie.
4. - "Hot Chilli Woman" - Jon Stevens
One of my favourites as a kid, apparently I used to get up on the coffee table (the good coffee table) and dance. For our visitors. Oh it gets worse.
5. - "Ga Ga" - Melanie C
A B-track for Mel C's "Going Down".. with lyrics that I related to.. and I wanted them for stuff.. so I put it on my iPod!! See, there is a relevant excuse for every lameo song on my pod.
6. - "The City" - Joe Purdy
Love the man, love the show..(Grey's Anatomy).. and love the song.
7. - "The Show Must Go On" - Queen
Love the dramatic feel. Queen always are just.. so much.. musical royalty - to me. lol
8. - "Trade This Love" - Guy Sebastian
I think this guy just has an unreal voice. Bag me, if you must.. haha
9. - "After All These Years" - Silverchair
Cute lol. Not something I should call cute, but I rather like this song. I love all Silverchair's work.
10. - "Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll" - The Killers
My favourite song off their debut album.

Mine is going to be different than pretty much everyone else's, call it a generational thing...
1. Over The Rainbow - Martina McBride
Love this song no matter who sings it, and I love the country/pop spin she puts on int
2. In My Car - Shania Twain
Again, I like the pop/rock/country sound that she does to pretty much every song on this album
3. You're My Better Half - Keith Urban
same as above:) Keith Urban is one of my favorite country/pop singers of late
(funny how all my country music seems to be coming up!)
4. Nothing Compares 2U - George White Group
a jazz version of the Sinead O'Connor song, nothing special about this, I just found an album of jazz versions of 80's hits on allofmp3.com a few months ago
5. Don't You Worry About Me - Four Seasons
eh, don't like this song too much, but I like a lot of oldies from this genre so I took this whole album
6. Grey Street - Dave Matthews Band
I love, love, love this album. My tastes run very varied, from the country stuff that noone else on this board would possibly like, to rock that is more mainstream.
7. A Night Like This - The Romantics
No idea, I've never heard this song. One of the cd's I grabbed from the library that had one song on it that I like and I've never heard the rest.
8. Back To Life - Soul To Soul
Ah...love my cheese 80's & 90's pop hits!
9. Blue Collar Man - Styx
I love pretty much anything by Styx, I have almost everything they have done
10. I'm Not Sleepy - Chris Issak
Again, I've never heard this song, just somtehing I've picked up from one of my many library visits

Cool idea! Here are mine:
1. Intensify by !!! - very cool and funky. I only recently discovered these guys
2. Birds Fly (whisper to a scream) by Icicle Works - a fantastic song from the early 80's. I remember listening to this on my cassette walkman.
3. Save Me by Jem - very fun and mellow. A great album overall.
4. Death of an Interior Decorator by Death Cab for Cutie - great song from a great album. Since hearing them on Six Feet Under I've become a great fan.
5. Red Light Indicates Doors are Secure by Arctic Monkeys - I got into these guys before the hype got too big and I really like them. They've really got a way with a lyric. And they've got their work cut out for them on their next album.
6. Caring is Creepy by the Shins - I got into these guys and so many other bands after seeing Garden State. Great movie and fantastic soundtrack. It opened so many doors to great music for me.
7. Re-entry by Collider - I bet nobody on the forums knows these guys. They're from Toronto, and as far as I know, broke up about 5 years ago. Fantastic band, influenced by Radiohead, and I'm so lucky to have one of their discs.
8. Tinfoil by Limblifter - an absolutely fantastic song from an amazing Canadian band from the 90's. I think one of these guys is now in the New Pornographers.
9. Mood Swing by Luscious Jackson - I love the entire Fever In-Fever Out album. Very funky and mellow.
10. Dreamgirl #1 by Sons of Freedom - another great and now gone Canadian band. I remember seeing these guys with Bootsauce at U of Waterloo in the early 90's.
