Hi guys,

I am looking for some noise cancelling headphones, which are over the ear units and have a neckband. I am going to using them while commuting in London. As the tubes and busses are rather noise I have the iPod's volume turned up too high and hope that these noise cancelling ones will mean I can have the volume reduced. I prefer the over-the-ear units as they are more comfortable for me, and the neckband again for comfort reasons as well as being less difficult to run with.

So far the only two models I have been able to find are the Sony MDR-G94NC and the Philips SHN5500.

The Sonys are available for £20, and the Philips for £28. Of these two pairs of headphones which do you recommend???

Thank you!!

Active noise cancellation works best where there is constant noise (aircraft engines) and doesn't work so well with irregular noise (shouting, etc.).

I'd be surprised if they worked well on the tube or bus.

I think you'd do better with a deep, isolating IEM.

thank you for the help.

Are there any over the ear headphones that would suit my purpose, preferably with a neckband. I am not all that comfortable with in the ear modules.

thanks
