I have noticed that the earphones that come with the 80GB iPods do not contain any black ear pads, like they did on the other models.
Why is that?
I like to have ear pads on my earphones because they feel better.
Also, is it possible to order just the earpads without also having to order another set of earphones?

Cool, didn't know that...thanks :)
That's still kinda messed up that they don't sell them with the iPod like they do on all the other models

The 5.5G iPod have the newer style earbuds which have a rubberized ring and are slightly different size. The idea is that they no longer need the foam pads to be comfortable or have a decent seal. I can't say if I agree with that yet.

The rubberised 'bumpers' aren't really compatible with covers

I tried out the new style Apple earbuds and I immediately noticed that they are slightly smaller than the older style. The foam pads had a hard time staying on the old style. I can imagine that they would easily fall off of the new style.

I had a few problems with the foam covers falling off my 5G 30GB iPod.
I used the extra foam covers that came with the 5G iPod and used them on the 5.5G and have had no problems so far with them being too big or falling off
