I'm thinking of joining audible, but I can't use my ipod in my car (don't ask). So my quesiton is, can you transfer audible files to compact disc?

Using the Audible Manager software, it is possible to burn cds for MOST audible books. If the description of the book contains a picture of a cd with flames coming out of it under available formats you can burn it to cd. Apparently, some publishers don't give audible cd burning rights to their material. See the post at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/audible/message/3165 for more info.

Also--be aware that an audio cd only holds 70 minutes of audio, so you may need quite a few cd's depending on the book you are burning. (The AudibleManager software will prompt you to insert a blank cd to continue burning the book.)

(My reply assumes you are running a PC--I'm not sure if Mac users have the ability to burn cds.)

Hope this helps!

Wouldn't iTunes burn to CDs in addition to Audible Manager?

But, your last "read" place in your book will not be retained with a CD. When the CD is ejected from the stereo, the place will be lost.

You are probably right about iTunes burning to cds as well. I have never tried this. I have used Audible Manager though, and as CarbonLogic suggests, AM does insert track marks every seven minutes.
