I installed a new PCI card to get USB 2.0 on my computer. I tested it out first with my SanDisc Sansa mp3 player and files transferred no problem. Later I went to use my iPod and it didn't work. When I plugged it in, the do not disconnect screen came up. After 30 seconds to a minute, the screen changed to a big check mark saying it could now be disconnected. I "safely removed hardware", unplugged, then plugged it back in. This time it went to the do not disconnect, followed after about a minute with ejecting and going to the Music/playlist/etc/etc menu. I plugged the iPod into one of the USB 1.1 ports and it worked fine. I plugged it into USB 2.0 here on my work computer and it runs fine. The computer is a Dell running windows XP. The PCI card is made by Startech. I tried Apple help, and Startech is one of the PCI cards they link to. Any ideas?

Sounds like you want to use your iPod as a disk. You can enable the option in iTunes when your iPod is connected.

The auto eject (which I like) seems to be new with iTunes 7 if you don't have enable disk mode turned on. My 30 GB 5G would usually not disconnect with iTunes 6, causing shutdown issues with my PC. If you have disk mode enabled, it will stay mounted, and you'll need to use the eject hardware safely button down by the clock to disconnect your iPod from your PC.

If I missed the point of your messsage, let me know.

I don't believe it is the disk setting. There is some difference between the USB 1.1 and 2.0 on my home computer (iTunes 7.x). It runs fine on the USB 1.1, but auto ejects on the USB 2.0. I run iTunes 7.X here at work with a USB 2.0 and it is fine. I'll give enabling disk use a try though.
