Songs won't play on ipod

Recently some of the songs on my ipod won't play. I've updated my ipod and they play on itunes but they just won't play on my ipod.

do they skip over on the ipod? like you try to play it and it doesnt work then automatically skips to the next song?
just try taking the songs that don't play off and put them back on

ya they skip and usually i would just remove them but problem is i have about 4000 songs and about half of these are doing this.

have you noticed its anything specific...i know i had this problem with purchased music from the itunes store
maybe its time for a restore...i know its prolly not what you want to hear but it would def fix your situation

I had the same problem with a portion of my songs - I know I still have some that are doing it because the size of my iTunes library is bigger than the storage of my iPod but the whole thing still syncs. I have over 9,000 so finding all the problem songs is not easy.

But, when I do find problem songs, they are always grouped by album which, in my case means each group is stored in a common file. To fix it, I have had to move the file to another location and delete the songs from the iTunes library. Then I move the file back to the original location and re-add the songs to the library. Don't know why it works, but it does.
