OK, this is weird. Lately, when I plug in my USB thumb drive, my iPod which is sitting in its dock, starts to sync with iTunes. It automatically goes into the "do not disconnect" and "iPod updating" mode as soon as I connect the thumb drive to my USB port. Anybody know why it does this? It only started recently. It's not a huge issue or anything; it's just weird.

Probably the iPod Service saw a new USB drive, and did what it supposed to do. Check the drives and synchronize if needed.
It is also possible that you are having drive letter conflicts, where the thumb drive attempts to get the drive letter that is being used by the iPod. You may want to set the iPod drive to a specific higher letter (H or I maybe).
On my system when I hook in a second iPod, the first is removed from iTunes if it is not currently syncing. Something new with iTunes 7.
