Hi all,
I posted this trade offer a little while back, but got things working so I left it alone. I'll give you a little background info. I bought a Sony laptop with a cracked screen for a pretty nice price and gutted it for parts. In the laptop, I found an MK6006GAH 60GB 1.8" hard drive, and yes, that's the same model drive Apple uses in many of their 60GB iPod products. After a little fudging around, I got the drive to work in my previously 10GB iPod (I did have to purchase a new back to get the drive to fit). To make a long story short, I tried to put iPodlinux on the 60GB drive, and managed to fudge up what I had done to get the drive working. Granted, any website that sells this drive states that it WILL NOT work with a 3G iPod. I tried my old method with no luck, so now I'm stuck with a perfectly good 60GB drive that I cannot use since my iPod is a 3G. You can read my other posts for more info.
If you've made it this far, congratulations!
So, here's the offer I'm proposing. I would like to trade this drive flat out for a 40GB 3G-compatible drive (i.e. MK4004GAH). That's right, I don't care about any extra cash, just a flat out trade. I am tired of trying to deal with this. :) I could probably sell this drive on eBay, then purchase a 40GB drive, but I don't feel like dealing with the hassle of listing the item, selling it, shipping it, then waiting for a 40GB to get to me. If it does come to that, I will have to go that route, but I figured I would try here first.
Now, I can only guarantee that this drive will work on 4G and above iPods. I will tell you that I somehow got it to work with my 3G, but have not been able to get it to work similarly since I screwed up the iPod software. If you can get it to work with a 3G again, I applaud you, but I won't guarantee it. I can also tell you that I purchased a 1.8" hard drive to 3.5" hard drive adapter and ran a few disk scans on the drive, and it is in PRISTINE condition; you won't be getting a clicking lemon.
I must stress, though, that the drive I trade it for MUST be 3G compatible. The main drive I know is such is the Toshiba MK4004GAH.

I currently have 69 postives (100%, and you know 69 is a good number :)).
Oh, and as far as shipping goes, I'll pay to ship to you, you pay to ship to me.
Thanks!
