Itunes sees wrong Ipod

I do tech support in my office and one of the users has a Nano 2gb that is displaying as another users iPod when he brings up iTunes. Basically when "user1" plugs his Ipod into the computer and brings up iTunes it is displaying as "user2". User2 is another person in my office that has an Ipod ver.5 60 gb. He says that he has never plugged his Ipod into user1's computer either. So I need to know how to remove all traces of user2's Ipod from user1's iTunes. Also user1's songs are correct on his Ipod just not in iTunes.

Is iTunes set to sync automatically or manually? If it's not on manual, try setting it on manual and see if it can detect the iPod properly.
