iPod not recognized by computer :(

I've just recent received a 30 gb video ipod as a present.. I installed the iTune on the CD and everything works fine the first time i used it. I uploaded a few songs from my computer as well. But the day after when I tried to plug the ipod in, I get a USB device not recognized error.. and my iPod freezes when i get that error..

Please someone help! :(

I'm using an USB 2.0 port, on XP SP2..

EDIT: Sometimes the iPod flahes on and off with the Do Not Disconnect sign and in the device manager the ipod is an USB mass storage device

Nvm, fixed it with iTune 7 and a system restore.
