Hi,
first post so please excuse naivete. I came back from japan, ang my computers hard drive was shot. dont know if it was the xray machines or just the jarring trip. got a new hard drive, but lost all my old music. my ipod video still has all my old music and movies on it, but when i hook it up to the pc, it prompts me to erase and resync. now i dont' want to erase my old stuff, but i do want to put new stuff on the ipod. I can't sync manually without first erasing my files. is anapod explorer my best option?
thanks,
dave

Welcome to iLounge.

Why can't you set iTunes to sync manually?

You don't need to use Anapod Explorer. Get a program like YamiPod instead to transfer your songs back to the computer. Then add them to iTunes.

thanks weaponx,
I downloaded yamipod, but apparently it doesn't run on 5g ipods with itunes 7. That's what i'm running on.
any ideas? do you know of other programs like yamipod?

Keep checking Yamipod for updates. There is a Beta for v7 but maybe your best bet is to go back to v6 of itunes for a while and use Yamipod (not Beta)
People seem to have a few problems with anapod and support is close to non existant.

Search at apple.
http://search.info.apple.com/index.html?search=Go&lr=lang_en&kword=&&news&q=itunes%206&type=kbdload

you will see one of the tabs in the results says downloads. You can also get the ipod updtaes as well.

An easy way to do this is to go into start > control panel > install/uninstall programs

then scroll down to iTunes and remove it.

then install iTunes 6
