First post… I tried searching through the archived post and had no luck for my question.

I think it is ridiculous that I have to copy music from a CD to my hard drive to my Ipod. Thanks Apple!! Is there a way to copy directly from a CD to my Ipod ?

It's not just Apple - you have to do it with all players.
You could always buy a CD walkman and play the CD directly.

some of our members have short tempers for newcomers who make blanket accusations against products or companies. You'd be hard pressed to find any DAP by any company that has software that compresses and transfers a CD directly to said player.

I remember reading about a program once that would rip a CD directly to the iPod, but it was done by temporarily transfering into iTunes first, but it made it very seemless, but I don't remember the name of it... Ah here it is: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20023 It's a mac program though.

Try googling Rip CD to iPod or the like to help in your search for a program.

Search in our software pages/forums.

You could always pony up for this contraption: http://www.shinyshiny.tv/2006/05/iload_cdtoipod.html

I think there are a few millions users that don't agree with you. Bottom line is, that's the way it is. I assure u there is not an upsurge of users that want Apple to change this. If u are interested, someone may explain to you why, the advantage of doing it that way.

U can always bypass the whole annoying thing and write your own application. The Apple website makes the SDK available to the public.
