I just got a 3rd generation ipod with the dock connector and it's great. I had TWO defective 1st gen. models before I got this one and they made very good & neccesary improvements.
Anyway, my question is this: I am using 3rd gen. ipod on a powerbook g3 with OS 9.2-even though when I bought the new model it says it only works on OS 10 and higher. In addition, I am still using itunes 2.x or whatever on my computer.
Needless to say, the ipod still works and shows up in my itunes window, BUT not before it gives me a strange error message about needing to update my ipod & itunes software, which I have to cancel out of every time I connect the ipod to my computer.
I haven't had any problems connecting/transfering songs outside of the miniscule error message I listed above until just recently. Every now and then it won't show up on the desktop or in my itunes window at all and my computer just freezes.
It got a little frustrating until I looked at the date & time on my computer & my ipod and they were both completely out of wack. (Powerbook G3s apparently get the date & time messed up in between every other restart!)
Does the date & time of the ipod & the computer itself have anything at all to do with problems/conflicts with eachother?
