I'm a little unsure as to which Arkon cradle to get (I'm purchasing in the UK and can only find an online dealer, so can't test them out). I see that Arkon themselves recommend the CM30 as here:

But most of the pics of installs I've seen here seem to use the CM60 as here:

Keeping in mind that I'll have my iPod in a case (Exo or Vaja if Santa's kind to me!) which will be ths best choice? Is one bigger than the other?

Another question about Arkon generally - are these quality, robust products, as they are expensive (here in the UK at least!)

To my eye the spacing between the two "feet" at the bottom of the CM30 cradle looks to be too closely spaced for the bottom connector on a 3G iPod, but it could just be the angle at which the cradle is photographed.

I have the cm 30...works fine....the spacing at the bottom is a perfect fit for the connector...i use it with my 3g 30 gig

Thanks. Do you have the iPod in a case? Is there any chance of the iPod falling out of the cradle? Finally, is it a solid bit of kit, or fimsy hollow plastic like most that I've seen?

I've used my iPod in an eXo with the CM60 (with goose neck mount) on a recent roadtrip and it never fell out. The "grips" on the cradle actually have foam pads that aid in holding the iPod in place. That combined with the "laidback" positioning of the cradle and the "grippy" feel of the eXo never had me worried one bit.

The cradle is hollow because of the adjustable "grips" but it's not a flimsy as it could have been.

i'm purchasing the cm296 and i was told by arkon it would fit an 4g 20gb ipod. i'm thinking of mounting an nyko stereo link docking connector on the bottom of the arkon holder
