please help as am beginning to freak out-earlier i installed my new 15gb 3rd gen ipod and software, was all going well, had just downloaded first cd and was about to sync to ipod (through mmjb) when suddenly laptop (windows me) crashed and ipod froze.
So I uninstalled everything and reset ipod a couple of times and tried setup process over again-except when i get to ipod configuration my laptop wont recognise the ipod at all. I dont think it's the firewire card as its still charging ipod. am beginning to run out of ideas so any suggestions appreciated

to be a bit more specific laptop now telling me it cant 'mount' ipod and that i should disconnect it and reconnect it-i do this but all that happens is that the little ipod symbol in strip at bottom right of screen tells me that ipod is connected. but still nothing works, mmjb doesnt recognise it, ipod manager doesnt recognise, nor odes my laptop properly-it used to indicate ipod in 'my computer' as drive. now nothing. please help am getting desperate.

I recommend uninstalling all iPod software (mmjb iPod plugin first) and then going w/iTunes. It has fewer connection problems than does MMJB.

Your right...it doesn't. Sorry, I didn't see that in your post.

ok, i just tried ephpod but there's still no sign of the ipod on my computer anywhere, nor does the ipod suggest that it knows its connected to the laptop-there's no 'do not disconnect'. do you think this is a firewire problem even though the ipod is still being charged?

Mabey have a look in you Device Manager. It should let you know if your firewire is working properly. I have never run Windows ME. You might want to pull the firewire card out and try reinstalling it. Might be worth a try.

Also if you don't want to give up on MMJB, download this help file. It's helped me out.
