Hi,
Forgive me if this is resolved already. I didn't find any posts that solved my problem so I decided to ask. This is my first post.
I have a 40Gig iPod (not) running on Win XP sp1 with a VIA OHCI compliant FW card with whql drivers.
I also run FireNet 2.5 - networking with fw.
I know that the iPod works as USB2.0 connection works like a charm on one of my other WinXP PCs. It recharges just fine from the fw on my pc.
My problem is that every time I connect the iPod to the PC via fw
it turns up in Hardware Manager with an error (not functioning properly - yellow exclamation mark). I have tried to uninstall all
iPod software and uninstall the fw card as suggested in some posts. This actually works for a short time; (the iPod is available and working as a removable media but not available to e.g. iTunes or iPod Manager as they are not installed yet at this time in the process.)
When I install the iPod software everything takes a turn for the worse. Upon reboot the yellow "device not working properly" returns and the iPod is not available as a disk nor to iTunes and Manager.
Also I forgot to mention that the iPod hangs up and has to be reset frequently with the conditions mentioned directly above.
Further more, now my FireNet has disconnected and won't connect!
The horror, the horror.. .
I've tried everything from rearranging fw ports to cursing Apple.
I'm so frustrated right now I'm minutes away from applying a large blunt device to the iPod.
This is the first device _ever_ I've had problems with installing on my PC. (And boy, do I have a lot of devices.. .)
Can anyone provide insightful help before I totally lose the last remains of my self-control?
And please refrain from non-helpful suggestions like buy a new fw card, don't run FireNet or buy a Mac. Thank you.
