Quick question folks.
Will a 3G (15gig) iPod fit into the original Apple case with a skin on?
Cheers, Timmo

Easy enough to test. 1 sec....
...Yep. It's quite a tight fit, but it fits, and it's certainly secure ;)

Lol... on second thought-- Very tight fit. Not practical for use, as it's very hard to remove. :D
Us a zip case it is the thinest case on the market

Thanx guys. Love a tight fit... Guys here at an apple reseller were saying when the 3Gs first came out they had to dismantle several Armour cases to get customers iPods free...
going off topic a bit,
I guess my problem is I wanna stop the collection of scratches I'm, well, collecting, but I drop the iPod in the dock most nights to charge it. (My dock sits on my hifi hooked up to the lineout and power supply - I use another cable for syncing with the PC)
So I don't want to have to buggerise around each night taking off the skin. But when I'm on the move, I need to be about to get to the controls, as I grab the news off the web most mornings and read it on way to work on the train.
dont want much, do I??!?
Any suggestions? Had any experience with the flip-bottom cases?
Cheers, tim.
Wow you can read the news
Is this by down loading it from the web?

Try GoogleGet on the PC, Lajo.
I use AvantGo on my Palm T|C for that, though... I can't do extended reading on my iPod.

yes, I can read... ;)
I use a perl script to scoop from www.theage.com.au/text (which is a newspaper here in Melbourne - they do a text only version so people with pda's can grab the text)
Check out www.sitescooper.org if you're interested in this sort of thing.
(btw, sitescooper could be very useful for the iPod if a 'backend' was written for it to define what the notereader can actually handle... then you could pretty much grab the text off any website and dump it to the ipod - I've played around with it a little bit, but couldn't get it to work 100%, so I just caniblised a few bits of code from here and there and made my own script.
My script puts the articles into individual notes, which I put into seperate directories for news, business, sport, etc. The script strips off any html tags, and does a few things to make the text look better with the note reader, and puts links to the next note if it is longer than 4kbs, (the note reader is limited to 4000 characters)
All this runs from a .bat file, that I have on my desktop... so all I do is plug in the iPod, click, wait till the script has run, eject the ipod, catch train, read news, get to work, post to ipodlounge while keeping an eye out for boss.... endless cycle, really.
Sooo, how 'bout them skins?
