Has anyone (person or aftermarket company) done this?

I am sure most of you know about those video lcds that are inside rearview mirrors (for a backup camera monitor or for multi-media). They come to life & shine thru the reflective glass when activated & then when turned off you can see the reflection in the rearview mirror again.

So why hasnt anyone done this for an ipod display? Its a pain in the @ss to have to look down to the ipod to navigate to a song....I figure it would be easier to look at the rearview mirror display instead.

Like I said... there are video monitor rearview mirrors.... is there a cable that would allow you to hook up your ipod to one of these?

Edit: I just realized that someone could just buy one of those rearview mirrors with an lcd video monitor built into it & THEN use a video cable to hook up an ipod video to it. But I guess there are no such cables available for older models (like an ipod mini).

Sorry... but i HAD to double post because for some reason it wouldnt allow me to submit an edit. :(

Dammit! It STILL wont let me edit my own posts!

[continued from above post]: .....but I have an ipod mini & there is no "display/video out" on it ..... so i gave up on the idea.

You DO realize that there are rearview mirrors (with the built in lcd video monitors) that DO have smaller screens? You really wouldnt need a large display to be able to see & navigate thru the menu on an ipod. Hold your Ipod's screen up to your rearview mirror.

I suggest looking up on google.com, froogle.com & google image with word combinations like "camera" "rearview mirror" "Lcd" .... I have seen many smaller screens in rearview mirror monitors that are in normal-sized rearview mirrors.

Bigger isnt always better.

It's ugly big, I only mentioned it 'cuz YOU supplied the link. So u don't have the appropriate items yet... The idea on the whole is good, but I was hoping u have already found the items and tell us what they are and don't cost an arm&leg.

Frankly I am a little skeptical now. The mirror can't be too (ugly) big, but then u have to be able to read it in a moving vehicle, and the mirrors I've seen cost usd$hundreds(?) <ouch>, another $150 for the DLO dock <ouch^2>

It's your idea. Do it. Take some pixs and come back show us how cool it looks.
