I placed an order for an ICELink for Toyotas a few days ago. I first looked into one a few weeks ago and waited until now to order because they weren't going to be available until around now. However, they did not exclude 2003 4Runners then but evidently, they do now so I'm trying to cancel the order (I didn't notice the change when I placed the order).

I'm looking into the PIE aux converter which appears to work with my 4Runner's head unit (at least they don't exclude it). Interesting that it works with my head unit but ICELink doesn't. Anyway, has anyone had any experience with the aux converter and a 2003 4Runner?

Gonna install my Blitzsafe tommorow on my '04 SR5. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have both a 2004 RAV4 and a 2004 4Runner.

Ordered the ICELink for the RAV4. The sales person at Dension assured me it would be fine,a s they offer 2 kits for Toyota.

Well, after ripping apart the dash on both vehicles, the as supplied SoundGate adapter does not work. The connector cable is wrong, and the one they supplied is for a 2002 radio.

BTW, the radios for the 4Runner and Rav4 are the same(at least externally/connector/interface-wise), though they do not share model numbers. One is made in Singapore and the other is made in the Phillipines. Both are Fujitsu.

SoundGates website says an additional cable is required for 2003/2004 Toyoitas without the NAV system. A part number is listed on the site.

Another oddity... Dension pulls the SoundGate faceplate off of the adapter...this doesn't help much when trying to figure out what the real problem is. If Soundgate has the right part, why isn't Dension shipping it?

I've had the icelink v1.1 for a couple of months now. It's been great but has problems with occasionally not putting the icelink to sleep when you turn off the car. After 3 posts to their support page and waiting two weeks, I finally got an email from them about getting an RMA and exchanging my icelink. I just haven't gotten around to taking it out and shipping it out.

I'm hoping the unit I have is just (slightly) defective and not an inherent problem with the icelink. It's quite annoying when you come back to your car a few hours later and the iPod has been playing the whole time.

Wondering how any install for a 2003/2004 4Runner has worked out?

I would like to install my Ipod in my 2004 4Runner, but so far the postings have not been 100% reassuring.

Thanks for all the input!
Paul

I installed a Blitzsafe and I think it is the greatest thing ever.

molocono,
Care to elaborate on your installation?

Why did you choose Blitzsafe over IceLink? Price? Quality of sound?

I am looking at integrating my Ipod into my stock 2004 4Runner head unit.

So far, Icelink looks good because it provides a standard IPOD connection (for audio and power).

Does Blitzsafe have anything comparable? I cannot find it on their site.

Thanks

Even though my comments may seem contrary, the icelink works fine. From what I've heard, it sounds like mine is defective and is an isolated case.

If you've got steering wheel controls, definitely get the icelink... it's very convenient.

I still haven't gotten around to sending it back for a replacement even though I've been sitting on an RMA for over a month now. Until I do, I can't confirm whether it is an isolated case.

I also have a 03 4runner with the stock single disc h/u. I am wondering how the adapter (icelink, blitasafe etc) connects to the h/u when there is no aux input. And how do you select the ipod fuction on the factory stereo when there is no aux input???? thanks in advance.

I've got a 2005 4runner w/JBL 6disc-in-dash-changer and RDS radio. Will a dension work, and if so, does it use text display?
