I have iTunes 4 and 3G iPod, so on with the queries ...

If I play a song ten tiomes on the iPod, is this noted?
If so, is this Play Count passed back to the iTunes database when I next sync?
If I play a song ten times on the iPod, does it update the playlist within the iPod or does it only refresh the playlist when synced?

Thesea re easy things to verify ... but I have niehter my mac nor iPod to hand. Hoever, it was bugging me ;-p

There's no way to view playcounts on the iPod, unless you made smart playlists like 'Play count is 10' and looked at the songs on the list. But the iPod does keep track and passes that info to iTunes.

Yes, playlists on the iPod are dynamic and will update based on play count without having to sync.

Hm....I believe that you can see the playcounts in iTunes and that they are updated when you sync the iPod w/iTunes.

Actually I'm 99% sure. I don't use iTunes, but I know they do it in MC9.

Just make sure the Playcount column is displayed and watch it change. I know last played gets updated by the iPod.

I was saying that there is no way to view play count on the iPod, not iTunes.

You can definitely see it listed in iTunes.

Yeah, but if iTunes is always in sync with the iPod, then you are seeing what the playcounts are on the iPod. True, you're not seeing it on the iPod...but you get my drift.
