ok so i kinda dropped my ipod on the way back to my dorm and now it keeps freezing in between songs. i figured id just copy the songs to my hd and then reformat the ipod but when i try to copy the songs it tells me cannot copy: data error (cyclic redundancy check) anyone have any idea what i can do? im running a 3rd gen 30 gb on windows xp

CRC errors are not good. Usually this is an indication that you have a bad firewire connection, but since you haven't had it before the drop, I'd say something bad has happened to the drive.

Have you done a disk scan on the iPod? Do a reset, then at the Apple logo, press the REW, FF, Menu and Center buttons. I disk scan icon will come up w/a progress bar. At the end you should get a Check mark (good) or a sad iPod icon (bad).

I'll bet something happened w/the drop.

Otherwise I'd do a restore. Don't tell me you use the iPod as the sole sourse of your tunes...not a good idea.

yeah well i did the disk check and it came up with the check mark. unfortunately i have all my music on the ipod :(

i dont really have enough room on my comp for all those songs

is there anyway i can save a list of the songs that are on there now so i can get them back afterwards?

You may want to ask a buddy If you can store them on his/her computer. Might be worth a try. Good luck
