I just bought a JVC head unit with the USB connection and it sucks. the guy recommended it at best buy. I would stay away from the USB port attachment. When you plug it in it acts like it is replicating and updating. It stays like this and then the head unit will start playing music. Here is the deal though you can not navigate the ipod. it is crazy. I am going back today either exchanging it out or getting another attachment for the ipod.
