Hi All,

I currently have a 4G ipod running version 3.0.2 software, from update 15.11.2004 as I have never bothered to update, "if it aint broke, don't fix it "etc However it does suffer from the crash problem if you let the ipod go into deep sleep, at the moment I never let this happen.

My questions,

I guess this has been resolved in later updates?

and if i move to the latest version will my current version of itunes (ver 4.7 - 4.7.0.42) also need to be updated?

And finally how do I do it? does updating itunes keep all song content intact etc.

Many thanks

I'd highly suggest updating to iPod software v3.1.1 (download here (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/)) and updating your 4G. With each update, numerous bugs are fixed, and your iPod's problems would likely be solved by updating.

You won't have to update iTunes if you update your iPod software, however it's always best to be running the latest version of iTunes (v6.0.5 right now). Updating iTunes will preserve all your song content.
