iTunes deleting files from library

I have noticed that some of my songs have been removed from my iTunes library (I dont recall deleting them myself). Have you encountered anything similar before.

Initially when I noticed this, I made all my files read-only. That did not help either. Is there a way by which I can log all files that are being removed through iTunes.

iTunes does not auto delete songs. It can auto delete podcasts, depending on your podcast retention settings. Try looking for viruses. Backup your iTunes songs before you lose more.
