I know this probably has been posted before, however I have about 1200 songs on my ipod, when I plugged it into a mac to test to see if the ipod was syncing, and itunes started up, the ipod was erased, or so I thought. I hooked it back up to my PC to see if it was still syncing, and it said in itunes "Cannot read ipod, please restore with software updater." I have a feeling I screwed it up, I restored all my tracks (cause i had them on my computers hard drive) but i still would like to know what happended. This question kind of boggles my mind, as I have not used itunes in about 6 months (my ipod was broken before then)

When you plug an iPod into a different computer from its "home" computer a box pops up saying your iPod is linked to another library, then asks if you would like to change this "link" to the current computer's library instead. If you hit YES, then you agree to sync whatever is in the library on that computer (Mac).

I love how a user mistake become, "itunes erased my music". Like mithra stated, without user interaction your ipod will not be synced to a different machine.

When I plugged in my ipod, itunes didnt ask me whether i wanted to autosync, it just did it on its own.. And thats what I find weird... Is itunes never asked me if I wanted to do anything.
