Well i used the stock headset for a while, then i moved up to the Sony MDR's. Love them but the cord was really thin and weak so they eventually broke. Sad as i am, i need new ones. Although i loved them to death, i think this time around i wanna go for bigger types. You know, like the ones that DJs use or similar. Why? I want deeper bass and more of that surrounding sound of music than the outside noise. I like the idea of noise cancelling, but dont like the idea of using batteries for headphones. Im willing to spend 50$ maybe more. Depending on the situation. I have seen some at best buy and circuit city. Some sony headsets that were around 39.99, but i dont know what kind of sound it would produce. A little help here. Im a student so money is a bit tight.

first of all, don't buy sony's mdr series, they are muddy and pretty uncomfortable. i've had the v150 and 300...big mistake.
instead of noise canceling, try a closed can or iem. since your budget is kinda low, a nice closed can is almost out of the question with the exception of the akg 81dj. they can be found for around 55.
the 81dj, from what i've heard at headfi, are very respectable cans. they are not quite circumaural (around your ears), but instead are supra-aural (rest on your ears). the 81 dj are okay at noise isolation.
but if isolation is more important, you might have to settle for a cheap iem such as the creative ep630 or sennheiser cx300

It has a recessed midrange and somewhat boomy bass, but the Vocal Booster EQ on the iPod seems to do the trick. 8 ft. cord can be bundled up with a velcro strip.

Oooh now those are nice. I hear everyone saying " get the ak2s, or the ek 75s how about the si223..." i really have no clue as to what you are saying. All i see it a letter and a number next to it. Im willing to spend 65$ the most. I use these headsets for about 2-3 hours a week, so i dont wanna dig too deep into my bank for a headset, but i have none right now. I want the big headset, like the DJ ones. Ive kinda given up on the small ones that go inside the ear as they tend to break real easy.

See you have to know where im coming from. I buy headphones that tend to be better than what i used to have. I started out with the normal Ipod supplied ones. Which were horrible. Then i jumped onto the MDRs from Sony, the ones with the interchangable sizes. Now i want something better. I dont go around asking people, hows the MK23-8766 b_234,334 with a patent number of 244,876,989 :-) I simply see what looks good and i grab em. Sorry im not a "pro" like some of you guys are, but i really wanna thank you for the help. Im gonna get those AKG's. :-)

The AKG K81DJ isn't that much more expensive and will most likely out perform the V-Moda

If you need Sony headphones and you're on a budget, a good buy are the Sony MDR-V300's. They have neodymium drivers, excellent bass response, and they are in the 'DJ' style. They're about 50 dollars at the Sony Store, i'm sure that you'll get them for a lot less on eBay.

Agree. AKG K81DJ is the way to go.
The SR60 is great too but it leaks too much and has a cord that's too stiff and long.
