I'm getting an error message about a corrupt or unreadable database in my iPod. It says I should 'run chdsk utility', how do I do that?

if your computer detects the Ipod as another hard drive then right click, go properties>tools>error checking. As far as im aaware thats the same as chdsk as in "check disk". Try it if not i'm out im just using logic

No need to do that (and Apple recommends against it).
Just do a restore with the Updater. This will reformat the drive, fixing any problems and give you a nice clean iPod database.
You'll need to reupload your tunes after that, but it won't take that long and it's a good idea to to this once every couple of months.
