When I was in college my roomie and I got bored and modified our iPods FM antennas so that it could trasmit about 20 feet away. This was fun driving around, finding people with open windows so we could hear what they were listening too. If it was rap, we'd throw on some metal. If it was metal, we'd throw on country. You get the idea. People were scratching their heads wonder what the heck was going on :D

And some people wonder why that's illegal.

They do? Never said it was legal. But since we're in a forum called "Hacks and Mods" I figured it was a little relevant. And funny :) Just stupid college stuff. Not saying I condone it ;)

But, for future reference, only do this if you're blocking out a radio station. You don't want to interfere with an emergency service radio band or something. That's just stupid and dangerous.

considering they were using an modified ordinary fm transmitter, which last time i checked only does fm radio waves from about 86-108 MHz emergency frequencies are compltely different

You open it up and let the antenna drape out when you put it back together.

There's a resistor you can remove from the circuit.

I think you short the resistor being pointed to, and I should be right. (If one of the resistor's leads gets to the transmiter)(The transmitter is the metal box thing.)

nice simple mod :) I'm liking it.
Actually, this might be a really good modification for those who have trouble with their iTrip..I don't have one myself, but a couple of my friends do and they get static from time to time. Boost your signal, and never get static again :)

I ordered an FM Transmitter from Hong Kong off of eBay that transmits up to 200 Feet when plugged into the cigarette lighter in your car. It's great blocking out the "Easy Listening" station with death metal.
