Help Please :(

I have currently installed the Update for the IPOD Mini. After I installed the update it told me to plug the ipod mini into an ac adapter and into an electrical outlet to reset "flash firmware" or something like that. I connected it into the electrical outlet but nothing happens, it just keeps showing the icon to connect the ipod into the electrical outlet. I tried connecting the ipod back onto my pc but it does not register. Can anyone help please?

I left the ipod mini in my ac charger last night and this is what happened... I woke up and there was an icon of a folder and an exclamation mark next to it. I restarted the ipod about five times but it stilled showed the folder with the exclamation mark. Then I tried connecting it to my computer and then it showed the icon to plug it back into the ac charger again... What is wrong!?!?

What type of cable are you using to connect it to the electrical outlet?

The earlier iPods (4th Generation full-size, and I believe all the iPod mini models) required connection to a power source using the firewire cable for the firmware update to complete properly.

If you're using a charger that supplies power over USB, this is likely what your problem is.

Do you know which generation of iPod mini it is? If you purchased it new, did you get a charger in the package with the iPod mini when you purchased it?

I bought the griffin ac charfer that uses a usb cord

I have the 4th generation ipod mini but i did not get a charger from the package because i got this from a friend:(

Do i need the firewire ac charge or something?

Yes, that is likely your problem then. That generation of iPod required FireWire power to complete a firmware update.

You don't necessarily need AC power -- if you have a FireWire cable for the iPod and can find a computer with a powered FireWire port, that will work as well.

Can you connect a firewire cord to normal dell pc?

on the left, is a USB port, on the right is a firewire port, if your computer has the firewire port, it will connect, if not, you need to find a computer with it!
