I'm new to this and still having read a lot of posts I'm stil lost...so my apologies.

Firstly, I'm looking at buying a 10gb iPOD for Windows. If I was to do this what additional hardware would I need for it to work?

Secondly, I've heard many conflicting opinions concerning the battery life of the iPOD. Can anyone give an honest length of time it'll run on average performance? It's a shame that the battery life isn't great particularly as I'll be flying to Australia soon and will only have approx 8 hours use on an iPOD on a 24-hour flight?!

I'm sure I'll think of some more questions!

Thanks for your help, it looks an amazing bit of kit but I need a few worries cleared up first.

George.

If you don't have a firewire port on your computer, you'll need either:

A firewire card

or

The firewire usb adapter Apple sells.

The battery life for the new iPods is probably closer to 6 hours new from all that I've read. Expect better than 4, less than 8.

If you do get an iPod, consider the Belkin battery adapter pack. And buy a ton of batteries for your flight.

You may also want to wait a few months. Apple updates the iPods every 6 months or so. We're due for a new iPod by April. It may be well worth the wait.

I thought about the possibility of waiting for a 4g iPOD and would buy it myself rather than getting one for xmas. I don't suppose Apple will release any details soon about a possible 4g, particularly so close to xmas. Something to think about...

If you buy the USB/Firewire adapter, do you need to have USB2.0 on your PC?

Also, on the way to Australia I'll be stopping in Singapore, any idea whether there would be any significant difference in price? Or would it just not be worth the hassle in regards to different power here in the UK etc?
