Last night, I tried to connect my ipod (4G, without color display) to the computer (I use Windows XP), but it wouldn't work. The computer froze up a little bit. When it finally unfroze, I opened itunes. Itunes didn't recognize my ipod, but My Computer did. After a while, I just gave up on trying to do anything with the ipod. Today, when I tried to use my ipod, the folder icon with the exclamation mark appeared.
I went online to the support page and tried to follow the directions listed to fix the folder-icon-with-exclamation mark problem, but nothing worked. When I tried to open the updater to restore my ipod, the updater either froze or had an error message. Resetting it didn't have any effect, either. Then I tried the support page to fix the ipod-not-showing-up-in-itunes problem. When I tried to uninstall itunes like the page suggested, the process froze midway. I got so frustrated that I just gave up. I come back to the ipod a little later and it was working again! So I figured it might work if I connect it to the computer. I was very mistaken. The same things happened. Computer froze, updater froze, itunes froze. I left the ipod alone and now it works again.
Can anyone tell me what is going on with my ipod? I'm starting to go nuts trying to figure this out. Thanks in advance!
