my ipod nano headphones - left ear v. poor quality/blown out - will apple replace?

I've got a nano under warranty and a pair of earphones which have a blown out left ear. Will Apple replace these for me under warranty or do I just need to bite the bullet and get new ones?

I live very close to an Apple store but it's in the city and has very long lines. I'm reluctant to go there and wait for an hour or two unless I know about their return/exchange policy beforehand.
