Hi, not sure if this is exactly a problem or not, or something thats simply common to ipods. As I dont know anyone else with one, I thought Id ask here and see what some of you say to me.
Ok the first is the reset thing. Sometimes after charging my ipod to full, I'll put it back in its case (sorry I have the 3G 40GB btw), and go out. When I come back a few hours later, (4,6,8 whatever) and switch on the ipod by pressing 'menu' or 'play', the ipod resets itself (I see the apple on screen and then after a couple of seconds, the menu appears). Id just like to know is this normal? I know that the ipod sleeps, but is it the case that after x amount of hours it goes into a 'deep' sleep?
Incidently after one of these resets, audible manager didnt recognise my ipod and I had to re-activate it, and recopy over my books, (but the music was still ok).
The other question involves the famous battery indicator. Last night before I went to bed I charged the ipod to full (using the AC adapter), listened to a book for an hour then went to sleep. (Btw I do have the alarms switched off, both for clock and calendar).
When I woke up this morning and switched it on, it did the reset thing, and the battery indicator was showing totally empty. I tried manually resetting it, but afterwards it still showed empty.
I also tried playing songs for about half an hour, the songs played, the indicator stayed empty and yet I never got the low battery warning.
I then put the ipod into the dock, charged it for 10 minutes, and now the indicator shows a small charge on the battery.
Is my battery on the way out or is this simply a problem with the firmware and the indicator???
Thanks in advance for any responses.
Andrew
