Help reading firewire!

So I just bought a new 40 GB iPOD and a belkin firewire PCI card from the apple store near me. I am running XP and for the life of me can not get my computer to regonize the card. The iPOD charges from the card, but the device manager shows nothing. I hate to simply return it, but I am leaving the country in two days (the main reason for my purchase) and can't risk eating the money I spent. Does anyone have any ideas that might help me? Please, I'm going insane here.

The card did not show up in your Device Manager under Network Adpaters? Actually, my card (not a Belkin, but a generic brand) shows up under Network Adapters as well as IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers.
