Is there software out there that will convert a MP3 file or a wave file toan audible file?

No. Audible owns it, and I don't think they are sharing.

Well, if Audible won't share their technology are there any other solution for audiobooks?
I am just looking for something that will let me "bookmark" where I left off. I am not sure if the other file formats do that other then audible.

He meant solutions for the iPod. Do you really think he wants to go out and buy a mini disc player.
The only real solution, I quess, would be to break up the audio file in to smaller chunks, say 30 or 60 minutes, and then you at least won't have to go back and listen to a large section of a book.
Their are a bunch of posts on this fix, but I'm sure someone else will post on this.

Thanks for the replies. I've gone ahead and split them into 30 minute sections; however, I need to go ahead and break it into 15 minute sections. For some reason when I first start a clip it has a tendency to make the skipping noises. Breaking the clips into smaller files should fix this.. right???

See this link to thread in this forum for discussion. Bookmarking non-Audible files (http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25502&perpage=15&pagenumber=1)
Later edit: I finally figured it out the answer. I posted the answer at Bookmarking Non-Audible files -- click here

Some people are having success which is describe in the thread. I cannot get this to work on my PC. Difficulties with joining CD tracks and with converting MP3 files to AAC files. iTunes will convert one track from mp3 to AAC, but will not convert (from mp3 to AAC) a merged file of all the tracks of all the CD's which I created with freeware (link in thread above) so that I can bookmark. You have to convert mp3 to aac and then rename the file extension to get this to work according to those who have done it.
Maybe an Apple vs. PC issue.

(http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25502) If anyone knows of post rip merging software for aac format to consolidate cd tracks, this would speed and simplity the process for PC's. Thanks. this may be an Apple vs PC issue, but the thread has answers for both platforms.
Just so subscribers to this thread will know.
