I just turned on my ipod nano and it's a black and white screen saying
Ok to disconnect with a big check mark
I cant get it off the screen..
Any ideas what to do?

Welcome to the lounge!
It's simply in Disk Mode. Just reset your iPod by holding down Menu and Select for a few seconds until it reboots. It should all be fine then.

still nothing. :( I dont want to have to send another one back!!

Try the reset again - hold the centre button and Menu button for 10 seconds or so. It should go blank then kinda reboot.
Do that and if it doesn't fix it then plug it back into the computer...
