i have a 16:9 movie file that i want to watch it into my ipod, but if i do that then the video will be strechted out. so is there a way to crop out the side of the movie file to make it into a 4:3 format?

Pan and scan is a method that crops the video, but it isn't necessary. I rip my 16:9 videos from DVD and convert with Videora because they have settings for widescreen. Now on the iPod, you can turn off widescreen so your video will be full screen. I personally think it's better this way, so you get two viewing options.
