Hey. I love the headphones which come with apple ipods. I don't to but the apple remote each time I want new headphones. How come apple doesnt let you buy the plain white headphones at apple stores and online. I am not sure how much they would be like 20bucks? Anyone else mad because you can not buy them?

There are places that sell the originals, but it's hard to find the right place. Techdevils sells them in balck also at $24.99 for one and $39.99 for two. They also say that Apple retails its headphones at 35 bucks.
Go on eBay and search for 'New Genuine Apple iPod Earphones' and your set - I haven't a clue why you think Apple don't sell them seperate, because they did last time I looked, but eBay is the cheapest way of buying new Original iPod earphones... in fact most everything to do with iPods is cheaper on eBay.

Apple does not sell the original earbuds that come with iPods. If you go to the Apple website, you can only buy the in-ear style phones.

sigh... well last time I looked at Apple UKs sight they did sell the original earphones, but so what.... personally I wouldn't be seen dead wearing the original earphones because you can get far better sound for very little outlay.
The iPods made in China and so are the earbuds/earphones that Apple supply with the iPod... ditto the remote control... ditto the dock... ditto the dock inserts... ditto more or less everything Apple put in the iPod's box or sell as a accessory... they are all made in China. Some hightly enterprising Chinese gentlemen, even though they live in a communist state, haven't let a dirty rotton capitalist pig dog oppertunity slip past by and they have themselves a nice little earner going selling bits for iPods on places like eBay.
So long as you limit your search to 'New Genuine Apple iPod Earphones' then all the results you get should be the exact same product that Apple supply. You could search for 'iPod Earphones' but you'll get lots of results for things that look like white earphones but which are not actually the exact same as Apple supply. 'New Genuine Apple iPod Earphones' get you exactly what Apple supply with the iPod.
Even some bloke in San Francisco is selling them for 1 cent, so even corporate America is catching the commies up :)

Why would anyone want to buy these? I tried them on for about 30 sec when I got my ipod then I threw them in the trashbin when I got my ipod, just horrible sonically and ergonomically.

Sure, but what is the point of buying a reasonably expensive mp3-player whose sole purpose is to play music really, and then not even bothering to buy real headphones?
Despite the fact that headphones influence the quality of the music the most I still see people being extremely cheap on headphones while still buying the very best/newest ipod.

and having really quality files
Why get a MP3 player in the first place - your listening to a lossy file format and, depending on whereabouts you source your MP3s from, they either be listenable or sound dire by comparison with the CD and sound so unrelated to the original master tape you would have to be mad to except the compromise. I listen to master tape grade material day in day out. I also listen to my ipod every day, but I wouldn't make the mistake of saying they sound the same - they do not and never will.
Why use better headphones to listen to a inferior file format - if you put garbage in you get garbage out and even high quality garbage is still garbage. If your prepared to spend literaly hundreds of

Wrong, I have lots of my music stored as FLAC (lossless) on my ipod.

Wrong, there is NO discernable difference between lossless and Lame -alt preset extreme to the human ear unless the subject have certain hearing disabilities. There is no compromise to accept.

Well, you either have some hearing disability or using badly mp3s or using crappy phones on your ipod setup, because if you're saying that you can hear the difference between Lame -alt preset extreme and lossless in a blind A/B test then you are lying.
