It was recenlt my birthday (today :) ) and i was wondering.. does anyone have the HeadRoom AirHead amp with the Grado SR80? If so, is this a good setup or would you recomend something else.

I don't personally, but I know someone who does--that's a great setup, and for what you'll pay for it, it's a fantastic bang for the buck....

I've got the Grado s80's with the soft earpads and I use a airhead amp. I'm not an expert but imho this combo sounds great! I've never heard anything sound as good as this.

Keep in mind grado's are wide open....and anyone around WILL hear what you're listening to.
What's your budget? there may be better alternatives to the sr80

Yeah i know that the Grado's are open headphones (I use the EX71's for on the go). I'm really looking for headphones I can listen to while at home for hours at a time.
My buget is about $200 - $100 for the headphones and $100 for the amp but was thinking of forgeting the amp and getting the SR-225s ($180 US @ HeadPhone.com (http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?topicID=3&subTopicID=26&productID=0020090225) )
This is the amp (http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?topicID=3&subTopicID=27&productID=0010010001) i would get with the SR80's.

If you're lookin for a phone to spend roughly 200 on I'd take a good look at the A900's...they are easily one of, if not the best sounding cans under $200...they get consistently good reviews over at head-fi

have you considered the "headbanger" amp? it's been really popular with minidisc users (I "Switched" to ipod) you can get instructions to build one from scratch here (http://www.minidisc.org/headbanger.html)
or buy one pre-made for $99.00 from
The Sound Professionals (http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/category.cgi?category=search&item=SP-HBA-2&type=store)
People have been using this kit to run grado's on Minidisc for a while with great results. It works great for me powering my Sony MDR-V700DJ series headphones which I also highly reccomend. about $130 in stores like guitar center or Circuit City. only about $90 on ebay.
hope that helps
