View Full Version : Wireless Earphones
What are the chances that a future Nano would have built-in Bluetooth so a person could have wireless earphones? I think this would be an awesome feature as I think the wires are a pain, especially when working out at the gym. I do not yet have a Nano but will be getting one soon. I may wait until the next generation comes out.

What are the chances?
As much chance as anything else being added to the new generation.

Wow, that reply was useless...
Sime, integrated Bluetooth in next-gen iPods is very possible. If not integrated, then a separate accesory add-on, which is more likely. I would love either so that I could hop in my truck and start listening to my music. As for earphones, I'll say maybe. The main thing is battery life. I've heard that the life of Bluetooth headsets for cell phones isn't that good, and hours of continuous music will make it worse. Then comes quality. It would have to be no less than Bluetooth 2.0. I believe there are currently Bluetooth headphones available, and some are rated here on iLounge, but they're a bit pricey. Give it time.
blutooth earphones are bascially crap imo.
they have #### sound quality,
will hijack internal battery
weak signals will be isolated simply by putting it in your bag
will probaly boost the price of the Ipod by a fair margin
wireless earphones means they are extremly easy to lose.
the technology will be too expensive just look at the creative wireless headphones, they cost half an ipod (nano)
so yea basically i dont see this happening in the near future.

Buy a bluetooth adapter for the bottom. But it would be a cool integration.
You all have good points. But I still think it would be a great ideal!!

I use Bluetooth headphones with my Pocket PC, so why not?
I plan to get my first ipod in a week or so, a 2nd hand 2GB Nano, and won't spend more as I feel they have to go bluetooth and don't want to shell out a big load of cash on the current gen ipod with video if I'm gonna get an opportunity to use my Motorola BT phones.
Bluetooth headphones, while not quite the same quality as wired, are great, AND ARE HERE TO STAY. A slight reduction in quality for brilliant convenience.
if you loose the ear phones you dead...lol

Are here to stay? They have barely arrived! I'm sure we'll see more and more Bluetooth accesories once the new iPods are released. I myself prefer quality over convenience, especially when it comes to my music. That's why I have a wired Monster connection to my iPod in my truck and not some lame FM transmitter. And seriously it's one, thin, wire. Hardly inconvenient. When a Bluetooth 2.0 accessory comes that does not sacrifice audio quality, I'll be there. But until then, I'm fine with my wire.

Personally, I think wireless iPod Earbuds would be just plain horrible, as the already mediocre sound emanating from these Earbuds would be mixed with hiss..
And wireless earbuds the size of the current 'buds would be really easy to lose with its small size and wirelessness. If Apple upgraded the 'buds sound quality and made them slightly larger, they wouldn't be too bad I suppose, but I still would like an option of traditional wired headphones.
