I have a 5g (60 gb) ipod and I'd like to buy the Logitech mm50 speakers. From what I understand, there is an older version that doesn't allow for 5g ipods and a new model that does accomodate 5g. Is that accurate? Does it really matter which model I buy?

I've seen black Logitech mm50s for sale online. Are they the new model? Seems likely, but I want to be sure before I place my order.

Thanks!

Hi, where did you see the black ones, as they are the new ones.

I got the black one which comes with the insert for the Nano.

However, it says for iPods over 40 GB, like my 5G 60 GB, you don't need an adaptor. It fits in snugly because of the thickness.

So any white one should work but if you get a Nano later, you might have to buy an adaptor separately from Logitech.

The picture on the outside of the black MM50 shows a 5G model while the picture on the white ones show an older iPod. But by now, they may be including the same adaptor/sleeves as the black ones.

Thanks on the info on the black mm50s.

I ordered them on Amazon. At first, the site was reporting they weren't shipping until mid-August. But last week that changed to "within 24 hours" ... they are selling them for $119.00. Everywhere else (Best Buy, etc.) is selling them at/above list (approx. $150).
