Having recently acquired 2 iPods in the household, I extensively researched cases. My recommendations, having bought the two best I could find are:
iPod Armour (www.3elimited.com)- Brilliant, tough, cool-looking, indestructable and invaluable for long trips in my hand-luggage
Booq Podpaq 014 (www.booqbags.com) - cool, ballistic nylon, tough, clips to belt, easy access to controls
Both offer significant protection, look cool and are very functional. iSkins etc look naff, and offer virtually no protection (and cost almost as much)
My only criticism of both is that neither has space for the earbuds/remote etc
Look at the Booq nappa case. It has space for the earbuds, etc. I also use the Jam Jacket with the Booq nappa case and the protection is awesome. About six weeks ago, I dropped the iPod in a parking lot and it bounced on the concrete several times. I was positive it was dead but it wasn't and there's not a scratch or dent on it. It works beautifully thanks to the double protection.

Also, look at the Marware Sport Convertible Case ( http://www.marware.com/convertible3G.html ). It is stylish looking, holds the earbuds, and provides some of the best protection I've seen outside of putting your iPod in a metal case. The Mareware case has plastic supoort inserts and strategic cushioning. I too dropped my iPod in this case and it just bounced back with a smile:D

hadn't seen the marware one before. how's the beltclip? do you trust it with your iPod? can't tell, but are those canvass strips on the back loops - so you could put something (a bag strap maybe) though them? i just need something that will keep my iPod protected and looking brand spankin new, but that seems like a LOT to ask of most cases.

The belt clip is rock solid. This case has a system where you can swap out different belt clips and arm band, etc. I especially like the swivel clip. If you're looking for protection and solid construction all around, you won't be disappointed with this case.
