Newly-Ripped Song Gets Skipped Over

Just ripped a few new CDs to iTunes and sync'd them to my video iPod. On my iPod, one song won't even start, it just gets skipped right over each time. The song plays fine in my iTunes library, but it won't play on my iPod. I pulled the song off my iPod, re-ripped the song, and re-loaded it onto my iPod -- same problem.

I changed to manual sync and connected to another iTunes-equipped PC (which doesn't have this song in its library) and the song does play from the iPod under these conditions (strange!). I then used 'PodUtil' to pull the song off my iPod and put it in this other computer's library and it plays fine there, too. But for the life of me, I can't get the song to play on my iPod while disconnected from a computer!

I've ripped hundreds of CDs into my library and have never come across this. I searched the forums and there seem to be similar instances of this, but no definitive solution or confirmation that restoring the iPod worked. I'd like to know if there are any other suggestions before I go the restore route ... and yes, I have the latest iTunes for Windows and the latest 5G firmware.

im having a similar problem however mine with all purchased music...have you tried removing the song from the ipod and putting it back on?

I pulled the song off my iPod, re-ripped the song, and re-loaded it onto my iPod -- same problem.yes i have. one thing i haven't tried is putting this album on my mini to see if this song has the same problem on another ipod. will try that tonight ...

i loaded the problem song onto my mini, same problem as with my other ipod. the song will not play on either ipod, but it will play fine from my itunes library and from either ipod while (manually) sync'd to my computer. all other songs on the album are fine, this is strange! i'm ripping the album at 192kbps AAC using VBR, if that matters.

after multiple attempts to fix this, the ONLY thing that makes this one song play on my ipods is to re-rip the song without VBR enabled. go figure ...



im having a similar problem however mine with all purchased music...sorry mate, no ideas for purchased songs. this seems to have been a codec problem on my pc.
