Latley my ipod has been playing my music where the vocals are drowned out by the background music. The vocals seem distant and faint... can anyone help?

Welcome. Have you tried using a different pair of earphones? Does it sound the same way when you play it through iTunes?

you know.. it could be your encoding. try encoding or "importing your music" using a higher bitrate.
open itunes> edit> preferences> advanced tab> importing tab> and then look at the kb/s (setting:)
i think the default is either 160 or 128.. try 192 if the vocals are still drowned out.
you could even try to delete all the songs off your ipod and re-import them.

yes it is the same with both my earphones, and the music plays just fine on itunes...
