Is it possible to hook up an iPod to a receiver/amplifier? If so, what accessories are needed? I want to hook up an iPod to my Onkyo receiver so that I can listen to music through my home theater stereo system. Is this doable?

Go to Radio Shack and buy a cable that has a male 1/8" headphone jack on one side (iPod) and stereo RCA connectors on the other (receiver) and you're good to go. Should run you about $5 US

Just make sure your receiver has aux/in inputs in the back--there should be two of them...It should work great. Word of warning--use the dock with the line out, rather than the headphone jack--the sound is fantastic through the dock's line out (It's clean--it bypasses the Ipod's amp), it's only so-so through the headphone jack...

do you guys know about an adaptor that plugs in the dock connector to get the lineout port? i don't want to buy a dock just for the line out.

The only thing i've seen that does it is the car charger from Belkin... but i sure don't want to buy a car charger for that

believe it or not it's worth it for the line out alone...not to mention the funky 'I look like a bar of soap' design...

just my tuppence worth! :D
