This is weird and VERY annoying. I'm really getting bloody sick of my ipod now.

I got an Ipod Mini. 4 gb. It worked fine for about 5 months then the battery sarted playing up. I charged it for the correct time and over that and when I took the ipod off the charger and used it, the battery went down very fast. Even if i charged the day before. Took the ipod out and went to sleep, the next morning the battery would be entirely empty. I presumed it was a battery problem.

I sent it for repair. After 5 months apple said they had lost my ipod and were sending me a replacement. Got it, after about 2 months, this time the ipod crashed and refused to start. I took it back to the store, they couldn't get it to work so, once again it was sent off. 6 months later this time, Apple sent me a new ipod replancement (same model). Now, this ipod is having the exact same problem as my original one. The battery goes down so fast. I only got it 2 days ago.

Last evening I charged it for 5 hours approx. I then listened to it for a while in bed (1 or 2 hours?) whilst reading. I look at the battery and its down to 1/2 full. I then turned it off, checked it this morning and the battery is entirely empty.

What is going on? I think it isn't battery problem but mabye something to do with the software.

BTW, i have tried resetting everything. I have tried everything I can think of.

Please, any suggestions? Would I be able to get a refund from Apple after all this time? Its really getting quite stupid now. What annoys me most is that Apples service is so bad so its near ipossible to get anything fixed or any information off them.

Thanks so much for your help.

make sure you have the backlight on for minimum times ( usually it doesn't matter if it's off on a mini. Also, make sure that when you've finished listening to music that you fast forward or rewind through the songs so that it doesn't eat up battery just remembering where you were and that you turn off the clicker

... if none of these, go through the reset method or restore the ipod

or it just could be that apple screwed it up... again

i am a silver 2g 4gb mini owner so i know the model fairly well (i've had it for nearly a year now)

good luck :)

Yer, that probably would help preserve battery but the thing is, when i first had my ipod before any replacements or problems I used to be able to use one charge for like a week. Also, the ipod mini is meant to have a battery life of about 18 hours right?

Mine has one of about 5 it seems. Mabye I have a leaking battery...if thats possible?

I would say that you need to be sure you are on a high-power USB port. It sounds like your iPod may not be charging correctly. Basically don't connect it to a hub, connect it to the computer directly.
